just emailed a company, hopefully they will get back to me on availability of fine graded wurtzite boron nitride (18% harder than diamond)

and maybe one day we can strop our blades with lonsdaleite (theoretically 58% harder than diamond without impurities)

give me what you got, Crucible Steel, I'm waitin' for ya and yer vanadium posse.:D

Finally, now I just hope they make it in a bunch of grits.

Diamond is plenty hard to cut any steel. Grit size is what matters for polish.

I don't suppose you'd like to share which company might provides these gems (pun intended). Is it in experimental stages? Price point? Always looking for a good stone. Please keep us up to speed.

I know that boron nitride has been used for a while on automated machining tools where heat build-up is an issue(as it is a ceramic),but I didn't realise that it was actually harder than diamond....we shall see.

There are different forms of boron nitride. Not all of them are harder than diamond. I heard of this stuff when I was in school, but didnt know it was available commercially.

Vanadium is yesterday story - Niobium is what make CPM S110V challenge. Wondering if someone manage to whittle hair with it...

Thanks, Vassili.

Of course we have, many of us. Not that hard at all. Some of us have already told you so. Remember?
