harder to see engraving and sharper G10 on newer production?

I just got a new 2011 production CQC-15 and I was surprised at the differences from my older models (my other Emersons are all from 2005, 2007, and 2008). The G10 is very rough I'm afraid it's going to tear up my pants pocket. Also, it's really not a big deal but the logo and model number laser engraving is lighter and a bit harder to see than my other Emersons. Is this how they all are now?

I have a 2012 Horesman BT and the logo does appear to be less pronounced than it is on earlier models (at least it appears that way, based on the photos of earlier models that I have seen). I agree with aaronlam regarding the G10. It does seem to have gotten smoother rather quickly, although still quite grippy. You can always smooth it down with a fine grit sandpaper, if you like. Just wear a respirator of some sort as G10 dust is very hard on the lungs.
