what knife in your knife history has been the toughest. Like I mean a knife that you could beat the living crap out of and it would work like you just pulled it out of the box. For me it would be the Microtech Select fire, I've used that knife every camping trip I've been on and it's still in great condition!

Kershaw folder I've had since 1985. Looks like a Buck 110! Not sure what the model is anymore. Lost about 1/16" off the tip, have ground a chip out of the edge. Have taken it apart and cleaned and oiled it a few times to get it to close properly. But if you didn't know better, it looks nearly new. And is shaving sharp.

I've also beaten the snot out of a Chris Reeves Green Beret. Serious abuse. Comes back fighting every time. Tough, tough knife.

But perhaps a HI kHukuri is the hardest use knife I've ever chopped a tree with.

I've been able to keep my Griptilian from having Bladeplay even after hard use with a simple cleaning with Q-tips, gun oil, and pencil graphite.
Been carrying it for over a month on and off with no issues. :D

Folder- benchmade contego. Id trust my life to that knife

Fixed blade- Fusion Battle Mistress and Scrap Yard Regulator.

Folders:
BM Adamas folder - just picked this one up the other day, and it is stout!!
ZT0200
Buck 110 - it's a classic for a reason

Fixed:
BK-2 and/or BK-9 - love both of these
ESEE 4
Fallkniven F1

microtech socom auto elite, i have treated that thing like garbage on job sites for over a year now and nothing at all . . . it's impervious to the abuse, doesn't even know the difference :)

i've heard great things about emersons, i want one...

Of all the knives I own, the toughest are probably my HI khukris or my Busse Team Gemini Light Brigade but my old USMC Ka-Bar I got as a teen was the knife I've used/abused more than any other and stood strong till the day I gave it to a friend and it still goes strong today.

As to the knives that have seen the hardest use...

Folders:
All-time - Buck 110
Current - BM 755 MPR

Fixed:
All-time - My Dad's WWII/S.Pacific USN KaBar
Current - Buck 192 Vanguard

Stainz

My Randall Model 14. It's a beast.

Yup.

Mine is my BK2. That thing should have put in for retirement years ago. Used it this morning to cut up some meat. Works as good or better than it did out of the box.

If you're going to use a knife hard get a carbon steel fixed blade, I really don't see why people push these folders into tasks they're not prepared or designed for.

So far the toughest I've used is my Sykco 511, I have an RMD on the way which will be similarly tough.

I suppose one could criticize anyone who used any tool in a manner for which that tool was not designed. But wouldn't that be equally true of a carbon steel fixed blade? I'm certainly guilty of using screw drivers to open paint cans, pull staples and nails, and even strip paint from hard to reach areas. I even once used a screw driver to open a can of beer. Lord help me if the CEO of Makita ever finds out what I've done with one of their circular saws. :nightmare:

I think you may be inferring "abuse" when the question is really just hard use. Not necessarily the same thing. And if someone wants to abuse his or her folder, I say, "let 'em!" (As long as they post pics)

Some guys use chain saws to carve ice sculptures. Just sayin'...

howdy: my buck 110's have held up for over 35 years on the job. (factory work) in/out open/close all day long.
cutting wires/conveyer belt/cardboard whatever. i have three that i rotate when dull....i have pounded on these for years on end ....NO FAILURES !!!!
YUP....i know they are production knives but they are tools that hold up well. when i want to play show and tell i take out my randall collection (46 pieces)
when i go to work i put on my buck......PEACE TO YOU AND YOURS
