I just got a CRKT Humdinger designed by Ken Onion because I really like the blade shape and overall design. The Rockwell is listed at 50-53. Will that be too soft for camping hunting use? Will I be constantly resharpening?

Thst is a crazy low hardness level!!

It should be tough. Similar to 1065, and a bit like 5160 (both have simimar Si and carbon levels). But those hardness levels are lower than some machetes!

Great blade shape, and handle looks great. Seems to have a decent sheath.

Use it and give us an update!!

will do. The CRKT description says Ken Onion designed it as a camp knife and for processing big game...elk and moose. That would require a HT that would hold an edge at least thru one large animal. So the 50-53 seems incompatible. Oh well, gonna use it and see what happens
