I was just wondering if anyone could tell me how hard the blade in the 440V military is.
Also, Is the new Military with the Compression lock going to have a s30V blade?

Last I heard Spyderco's 440V was around 56 Rc. There appears to be growing consensus that this is where 440V performs best.

When I was first getting back into knife collecting I researched until my eyes bled. I ended up with a Military, the tests pointed to the CPM-440V steel as being the best all around for hard duty(well Stellite 6(?)K faired better, but I could not find a knife in that flavor back then(1997-98 I guess). Durable steel, edge holding is great, although the first run of CPM 440V from Spyderco was a bit brittle, edge holds fine tho. Do a google search on CPM440V and you'll hit a gold mine, thats kinda how I did my diggin. VG-10 is my new grail.

Thanks guys. I appreciate the info. I decided that after recieving a very dissapointing BA3 from Busse, that I would go ahead and order what works. The Military is an excellent design and a great cutter, slicer and user.
