I am ready to start experimenting in knife making and have heard that circular saw blades were made of cutlery type steels. Could someone tell me the approximate Rockwell hardness of an unmodified circular saw blade? For heat treating purposes, is there any way to tell exactly what kind of steel it is?

Most circular saw steel blades are made from L-6. I would expect a RC of about 50 from observations on how the saw blades flex. Dont quote me on this however ive never actually seen advertised #'s on them.
