I have had this tester for over a year taking up space. A fellow sold it to me and I took his word it was fine. Nope! It won't load up and pop to test. So I don't want to ship for repair it weighing around 100 lbs. Hoping someone knows where I might can get it fixed within maybe 60 miles of Jacksonville Fl. My tester is like this one. rockwell-hardness-tester-13.jpg

Does it have all of the components?

Pictures will help

Take the top and back off and make sure the shipping braces and chocks are removed. There is often a piece of styrofoam placed on the beam to keep it from slapping around in transit. Also, make sure the weights are on the hook and not taped or padded down.
I bought two brand new testers that were sold as-is because someone thought they were bad. I got them for less than the shipping cost. They were packed at the factory with styrofoam padding and perfectly good.

Yes sir, we took the shipping clamp out and it all appeared to be there Just can't get it to snap or whatever you want to call it.

I am gonna get pics and post them but have a funeral tomorrow so maybe Thurs. I appreciate any and all attention. Thank you

Mine came not with Styrofoam but wood that kept it safe in transport. Hope that helps.

Here are some pics. Thanks everyone.

Well that's much better, I'm going to start with the obvious stuff first so forgive me.

Did you remove that wooden block in the testing area in between the anvil and the indenter?

Yes we set it up with a test piece and what ever we were suppose to do. The piece of wood was put there for storage. We took some kind of a hook rod off that was inside for shipping and had it ready for testing.

Looks like your weight stack is engaged for 60kgf for HRA, the dial on the right side of the tester will engage the hangers, you'll want to turn the dial until those hangers are not engaging with the bolts on the side of the weight for HRC

The tester is loaded, to unload, you would move that handle forward. Sounds like these pictures are old since you've already removed the wooden block. In your description, you say that it doesn't "load up and pop a test" I'm not sure what that means, it looks like from these pictures that the loading system is working. Are you meaning that the needle on the dial is not moving? Again, a picture is worth a thousand words. You should take more pictures of your current setup, these pictures are old. The pictures help because they they keep us from talking in circles and help avoid confusion in communication.

A video might make even it even easier. Is there oil in the cylinder? I am guessing the thing beneath the weights is the oil cylinder?
