Hey guys I was wondering where the best play would be to buy hardware for my first folding knife. And by best place I mean best place for a Canadian guy in Ontario Ottawa area. Im in the process of making my first folder prototype and I need to get some hardware. I need pivots standoff screws washers lanyard tube.

For the pivot I was thinking .125 works best with my design although its a big knife. Almost a 5" blade. I was wondering what you guys think about that, would it look really bad if a big knife had a small pivot or should I change the design and make it have a .250 pivot. Im also trying to find a pivot without button head screws. Something that I can countersink and have flush I hate it when they stick out. I was also hoping to get pre made standoffs and have the screws for them countersink flush aswell. Another thing is the stop pin. Whats the smallest that It can be .125? Or should it be bigger because this blade is going to have a lot of weight.

If you guys could point me in the right direction as to where I should buy this stuff and let me know what size to get it would be great!

Thanks

- Liam

Also I was looking at The Alpha Knife Supply Bearings and I was wondering how I would get those to work without having a mill? http://www.alphaknifesupply.com/hardware.htm the .125" ID Folder Bearings

Could I Drill the pivot hole and then without moving the vise put in a endmill and plunge down a little? Or do they not have to be nested?

Any help would be great guys thanks again!

You can get a good selection from USAKnifemaker Supply or R.B. Johnson. Both are good suppliers in the ways makers like. Not sure but R.B. may be on a vacation right now. Just use google or -- to bring him up. A little warning on these parts. They aren't ones you will want to make yourself. It also seems you must put out a few bucks to get stuff together to get started. I suggest using 3/16" pivots where you can and 1/4" or 1/8" where they work best for size fitting. I'm open to helping . I can arrange to phone you if it may help. Please contact me a niro@telus.net if you wish. Frank

Thanks Niro Ill be sure to check out USAKnifeMaker and R.B Johnson. But what do you suggest for the bearings?
