Some of you may already know this, but I was pleased to find out that Lowe's home improvement does in fact carry stainless hardware that will work for the BK's. I tried several of the sizes that were close and found that the 10-24x3/4" works well. You have to trim the ends of the bolts a little. The best part though, is that the 10-24 stainless nuts are a much nicer and tighter fit into micarta scales.
One less thing I have to worry about coming loose at some point.
I ended up measuring the bolts and I cut them off where they are flush with the nut when tightened down all the way.
If you are having trouble cutting the bolts straight, put a nut on first and use it as a guide. In addition to keeping your cutting/grinding at the proper angle, it will also chase the threads when you take it off. Just an old trick that everyone should know, it will help you out a bunch.
