Happy trails today. One of my better days for hardware store finds. I took a different route on a normal trip, and came across a little out of the way town I'd always seen the sign for, but never turned to go that way. Happened to be a little hardware store that used to have a lumber yard, so I had to stop. All the knives he had left were in the display "slots". Probably about a dozen or so.
Picked up a 285UH Trapper and 77OT Improved Muskrat, both in the woodgrain box. Also a 96OT with scribe and tweezers in a "Sharp Idea" - the black and tan box.
Was granted permission to rummage inside the case. Found the woodgrain box for a 127UH Folding Hunter and White Box for an LB3. Once upon a time someone must have bought them out of the case, but didn't take the sheaths that went with them. Just so happens I needed both of those sheaths.
Came up with an empty woodgrain box for an 8OT and an LB1, both with the white outer cover. Lastly, the empty woodgrain box and cover for an HS1 honesteel. There were a dozen or so other empty "Sharp Idea" boxes for various Uncle Henry and Old Timer patterns, orphaned from knives long ago... I didn't barter for them
I also left behind an LB7, 897UH, 33UH, 807UH, 18OT, 104OT, and a couple of black handled tradesman. I wanted to buy the whole shooting match, knife case on wheels included, but he wouldn't make a deal.
He also has two smaller "older" Schrade display cases that are now empty. He said some guy came in 5 years ago and cleaned them out. I would have like to have seen the contents of those.
Dumped it all out on the table. Here is the damage.
