A buddy from work just put in brazilian cherry floors. He gave me a box of scraps.Said maybe i could use it for handles. Does anyone know if this flooring is stabalized? Anyone ever used flooing. P.S. its solid not laminated. thanks in advance.

I doubt that it is stabalized, it would cost a fortune to stabalize all that wood.
Should be stable enough though.

I work in the construction trade and i have never seen stabilized hardwood flooring it is pre finished now days. Put some water on the end grain and see if it soaks in. If it does soak in then it is kiln dried hardwood. It will still make a nice hande imo.

STK,
I've used some of the Brazilian cherry flooring for handles. It's a good stable and reasonably dense wood. Works and finishes easily but you'll need to use a sealer. Not particularly a pretty wood as handles go, kind of plain and the color just doesn't "pop". I only use it on utility grade knives.
