Does anyone know a good dealer for Hardy fly fishing equipment in the US or Canada ?

I am looking into buying some new stuff and think this is the best method. Nearly all my local shops are poorly equipped or overpriced.

Thanks.

Hardy equipment in the US is not usually discounted much, if at all.

What in particular are you looking for? Reels or rods? Salmon or Trout?

I don't see many Hardy rods, but do see a few reels from time to time. The US equipment (Sage, Winston, T&T, Abel, etc) is more popular, and few dealers carry a large line of Hardy equipment.

Hello JB.

I was looking for two salmon rods. One of 13' and another of either 15' or 16'. It's pity they're not so popular. By the way, I have a couple of American salmon rods, a Sage and a Thomas & Thomas - I really can't get onto the fast speed of their actions. I prefer a salmon rod which is much slower, rather like cane ! I do however use American rods exclusively for my trout fishing where the speed is all important ... I use two Scott's.

Guess it's back to the drawing board to find a good deal :(

The Hardy salmon rods would be difficult to find, IMO. The prices I've seen for Hardy reels were astronomical in comparison to machined bar stock US made reels. My knowledge of salmon or spey rods is limited.

I find the majority of US rods too fast to my liking, and prefer a much slower action. Some of the Sage rods are pretty slow, but not like bamboo. I have a Winston glass rod built by Tom Morgan in the late 70's that mimics a 'boo rod pretty well. But, it's only a 6 footer for small streams. The Scott is a very underrated rod, but excellent in craftsmanship and action.

Diamondback, an American manufacturer, makes some nice slower rods in glass and graphite. They do offer several two-handed salmon rods, but I am at a loss as to the speed of their action. They are under $400 USD.
