Well, I had fun doing the last review so I figured I do another...

This is another large 'tactical' folder from South African maker HARM (Armko-knives.co.za). This is a relatively new folder called the Shark Tank. OAL is just under 9 inches and blade length is 3,8 inches.

The handle comprises contoured carbon fiber scales with thick (2,5mm) titanium liners and G-10 backspacer. Three stainless torx screws secure the carbon fiber scales on each side. The tip up clip is titanium and secure with two torx head screws. Liners and clip are anodised a blueish-purple. A subtle but appealing touch. The liners are also engine turned.

The blade is hand-rubbed and then blasted for a very smooth finish. The striking compound grind makes for a very strong tip. There is a long swedge up top to lighten the blade. Not a bad thing as it is 5mm thick stock out of Bohler N690 hardened to around 62 RC (if I remember correctly).

Opening is via a titanium thumb disc screw mounted on the roof of the blade, with very aggressive knurling to aid purchase. There is blocky jimping cut into the thumb ramp just aft of the thumb disc. Opening and closing with one hand is very easy, aided by phospor bronze washers.

The lock up is very positive and given the size of the liners, feel as solid as a framelock. The flared butt of the handle and forward finger groove makes for a very positive grip although the surface of the carbon fiber is polished and therefore quite slick. One of the downsides of an otherwise very appealing material.

Now for the pics!

The flash brings out the awesome 3D pattern of the carbon fiber. Love that stuff!

Very substantial Ti liners and full length G-10 backspacer

The compound grind is a favourite of HARM and found on many of his signature knives.

Good, positive lock up

Nice looking folder that knife is a tank. Just the way i like them congrats on your score.

Great pic Buff! I love the handle on that one. I'm a sucker for big rear ends, probably why I'm now divorced!:D I not really digging the blade as far as the edge profile goes, but that's just me. Make me one with those dimensions/specs and straighten out the edge? I'm going to have to look into that! I'm starting to get a hankering for custom folders again......especially those overbuilt ones!:thumbup::)

Great review.

Interesting looking knife - I was searching for more info on the maker and came up dry. Do they trade under another name?
