i like how punch stays low in handle and little cut out for opening(wish more secondary blades are made that way)

punch and clip blade, for me this is perfect combination for great outdoors ;)

I have the same one, rinos, and I agree about the bone. Great colors and wonderful deep, random jigging.

Shown here with my burnt stag handled HJ.

Yeah, those are nice, can't think of a regular use for that punch though. Might have to buy some too-small belts to justify this one.

I've used the punch/awl on my SAKs for striking ferro rods, boring holes building outdoor camping stuff and snares. Really like GECs Harness Jacks, but they are bigger than I like. I'd love to see the same clip/punch configuration on a 3.5" or smaller knife.

+ 1 on my ALOX SAKs....on this GEC, I would likely find a use for the awl more often than I would an extra blade. I like this pattern...maybe someday I will get one!

If you carefully sharpen the edge of the punch, you can use it pretty much as you would a sheepfoot or Wharncliffe.
It's a very useful all-round blade.

That's a gorgeous knife there. Love the horsecut on that big equal end knife. Nice purchase.

Beautiful HJ! as you say stunning Bone! Thank you for showing us - we need to get the HJ's out more!

Thanks for replays,
and for Medicevans epiphany thread,suddenly- i like equal end knives :)
also find out that HJ fits nicely in Opinel 8 sheath

Beautiful knife, Rinos! There are many fine examples of jigged bone, but for me it doesn't get better than GEC's early horsecut antique! Congratulations.

My own horsecut antique is on a much smaller package:

I envy you the expanse of beautiful bone on that #54. :)

There are some out there, clip blade and punch on GEC's 3.5" #66 serpentine frame.

(Also released in the far more subdued ebony, heh.)

Have fun out there. :)

pertinux - That #66 Teamster Jack in jigged bone would be my ideal GEC. I missed out on the #66 Serpentine Jacks, and wasn't even aware they offered a secondary punch option. Thanks for the information.

Due to the heavy rains lately, fun is indoors only ;)

Now,that 66 looks colorful
punch is bit different, flat, more pointy ?

Punch on the #66 appears to be like those on my Victorinox Farmer. Instead of a nail-nick the top part of it is like a shelf.

Me either, though I've got a couple of these only because I like the 53/54 frame so much. Have actually thought of having the punch & spring removed, but then I'm left with the obsolete dished out semi-circle relief in the bone. Crossing my fingers that GEC will soon make one with a coping blade in place of the punch.
