aaaahhhhh, oooooooooohhhhhhhhhh, that is some nice wood! (I feel a little weird saying that to another man). Sorry. Anyway, the knife is shaped just right for a hunter.
How long is it?
I just wanted to ask, do you ever try to bring out more activity in the hamon beyond where you have this one with a few vinegar or lemon juice etches followed by intense rubbing with abrasive power (FFF pumice, FF pumice, or silicon carbide between 1200 and 1500 grit)? The whitish hamon look obviously wasn't what you were going for here. I am curious to know whether you ever go for it? If not, is there a reason for this look, besides just appearance? In other words, does this sort of polish resist or hide scratches better, or resist rust better, or some other thing I am not thinking of (several people use this look)?
I did not see the pins in the first pic, and they were a pleasant surprise in the second. I was starting to think that you had somehow hidden the pins.
How long is the blade? Once, I dressed out a whitetail buck with a 7" bladed knife, and it was just too much. The knife looked great in the sheath, but it was horrible as a hunting knife.
great knife, hope the rambling and questions aren't a bother. I thought you could help me learn about the rationale for choosing one polish type over another. Thanks.
take care,
