I got my new Harpy G10 and the clip is tip down carry. Pictures of the knife I've seen is with tip up. Why is there two different versions? I prefer tip up.

Harpy's are all tip-down carry. Merlins are tip-up. (Merlins are the FRN version of the Harpy). Hope this clears up any confusion!

Hmmmmmm.....definetly confusing.....I double-checked all of my Spyderco catalogs and they all list the Harpy and tip-down....makes one wonder if Spyderco did a sprint run with a different clip on it? Or they often make prototypes that don't make it to production. Maybe that is a picture of a prototype?

Feeling very confused,
Flinx

PS: Or they could be making the new G-10 Harpy's tip-up carry. But I thought that the G-10 version had been discontinued....hmmm now even more confused

Another thing to add to the confusion. The Harpy in the pic is said to have Gin-1 steel, I have a pair of them, both tip down with ATS-55.

Production G-10 Harpies were made tip down carry, but I have had one in here for a neck sheath that was tip up. This was when the G-10s came without a ss liner for the pocket clip to screw into. I think it was pre-production, because I have a couple (first production run) without liners with the clip set up for tip down. There are also a few G-10 Civilians that don't have the ss liner. Good neck carry piece.

Tique:
The Harpy G-10 was made for a time with GIN-1 blade...until they were replaced with ATS. I have one in my collection.
