I'm going to be in the Shenandoah Valley the first week in June. I'll be staying at this place called Massanutten but I'm wondering if there are any restaurants that I should check out. There are a couple of okay barbeque joints at the base of the mountain but I'm wondering if there is something better.

Oh and if there is anything else to do around there in particular for a knife nut let me know.

I'm just going to ttt my own thread here just to see if anybody who isn't on during the weekend might see this this week. Thanks for any info!:o

I don't recall anything particularly fabulous. The restaurant on Massanutten proper ... at the golf course ... is very good. I've enjoyed a few fine dinners there, complete with Virginia wines. They offer a winemaker's dinner there on Thursdays that is top notch, and I think a Beer Lover's dinner on Wednesday(??) that I very much enjoyed.

I also recall a brew pub, relatively new, that's downtown. I believe in the same large building as the local live theater. Don't recall the name, but the food was good.

Other than the usual fare, that's about all that sticks out in my mind. As you exit Massanutten, you turn right on 33 to hit Harrisonburg. There are many adequate restaurants along 33 before you hit the N/S freeway (I-80, I think).

Thanks for the info. I'm hoping to play a couple of rounds of golf, so I'll check out the club's dining room

There were many battles fought around there during the war of northern aggression.Big battlefield and museum up around New Market. You could get a DeLorme and travel the gravel roads in the valley lots of history there.
