I've found a spanish edition of the Encyclopaedia of Knives by A. E. Hartink, the book was sealed so I wasn't able to take a look at at the contents and answer the question: with all the knowledge flowing back and forth in this forum, the manufacturers web sites and all the online sources of information, is this encyclopaedia still an useful reference book? What do you think about it?

Saludos.

I´m interested too.

Where did you find it and did they have more than one copy ??????.

I did a search and found several books about guns by this author, only one on knives.

hi
Hartink is from Holland and I have the Dutch version (as well as the gun editions).
It is a well written book, but first published in 1999. So the information and pictures are dated.
I think I only paid around 15 euros (+- 15 usd) for it, I still use it as a reference.
As for myself I don't buy knife magazines, books any more. As you said you can find all the info you want on the web.

bye
Dirk

i had the same book, also in the original Dutch version, well, since i'm Dutch and stuff :), paid about 5 euro for itat a sale. i'd stay away from it, it's not that good and definitely not comprehensive. i gave mine to my kid brother.......

It was published in Hungary in 2001, but it was not actualized. Well, another dustcollector at home...

Thanks for all the responses, so it seems this book isn't that good for the price (around 23 US dollars). Anyway, I'm still interested in hearing more advices, any comments about the translation of the technical terms in this spanish version?

Don Luis, encontré este libro en una de las sucursales de Sanborns de la ciudad de Cuernavaca, titulado algo así como "Enciclopedia de cuchillos y navajas", supongo que en el D.F. podrá encontrarlo en alguna de estas tiendas.
