I was in Moorcroft, WY this AM with Ken Lunde, his dad Vern, Ken's friend Larry and myself. At 1/2 hour before sunrise (6:32 am) we took the first shot....at 6:40 am we took the last shot.

I took my buck at 245 yards using my Cooper Model 54 Excalibur in .25-06 (hand load). He dropped straight down.

Nice, great score, congrats!

I had Pronghorn bacon last trip to MT. I think it was Pronghorn.

Must have been a target rich environment this morning aye.

Is that Cabela's MT050?

Great pic and congrats sounds like there was plenty of antelope around. Nice rifle too those coopers are very accurate rifles.

I see these threads every year. I think y'all cheat. LOL

Great job by all! Another short but successful Pronghorn season.

Mine was taken at 6:32AM and at a shooting distance of 235 yards. It was still plenty dark, but I was able to see that it was a male of the species. It was walking, so I had to lead it a bit. As Wade mentioned, I used an M22 Phoenix in 6.5x55 SE, and the handload uses a Sierra 120gr bullet.

Here is a photo of Larry with his:

His was taken second, at 6:35AM, at a shooting distance of 245 yards. The rifle is a Jackson Hunter, and uses the same load as Wade's rifle.

We were back to the motel in Moorcroft by 8AM, and back in Hot Springs, to Black Hills Meats, by 10:30AM.

It was a good day.

Ken, nice hunting, great shot considering that you had to lead him, congratulations to all of you, thanks for the update and pics.

Looks like a great hunt! The only problem is that it was over too quickly. Congrats on the meat... good shooting.

Excellent hunt for you all....man I'm jealous!!
In a week and a half I get to start knocking down upland birds up here in New england!

I have hunting licenses in 2 states this season for the first time so hope it pays off!!

How is that pronghorn meat?? similar to whitetail deer??? feel free to send a good old boy a steak...I will mail you some whitetail back (hopefully..just jinxed myself lol)

The mount is done, and will grace my office wall, joining the seven others that are there already, when I return to work on Tuesday.

Also shown is the knife that was used to dress it in the field.
