Dean makes some great looking knives doesn't he? I enjoyed going over his work at the SOS show this year. Nice Guy! Mike

Yes sharpened.
I'm thinking about some engraving and inlay on the guard and escutcheon, possibly Steve Dunn.
What do you guys think?

Kevin, I think that the knife is great just the way it is. Good pickup. Jim Treacy

awesome score i think harvey's work is some of the best being produced my the abs mastersmiths today.

Wow, another great knife. It would be really great if one of these days you posted a/some photo/photos of your collection. My guess is that it is outstanding.

Nice looking hunter. I like the design a lot. I would leave this one as is myself. Sometimes engraving on a damascus knife is too much, I think. But, with Steve Dunn's handy work, I am sure you would be pleased.
Thanks for sharing!

Kevin,

In a very short while you have established yourself among this BF crew of forged-blade lovers, and your choices seem to be very well-considered.

This knife does not need engraving, but it would not suffer either.

Congrats!

Coop

Thanks guys for your complements on the knife and your input on the engraving.
I agree, the knife doesn’t need anything else. However, as I'm crazy about all forged knives, I have become very interested in Master Smith engraved knives over the past few years. It is easy though to over embellish a knife and take away from it by making it something other than was intended. Does that make sense?

Plus, my preference is for engraving by the maker or not at all. Roger

Roger, you make an interesting point. All my engraved knives are engraved by the maker, however when you think about it, how many custom makers are also engravers? Now by engravers, I mean they are good enough to get paid for engraving if they were not knife makers.
Without really thinking, about a 1/2 dozen or so come to mind. How many can you guys think of?

I'm no authority on folders, however I would guess that many more custom folders are engraved than custom fixed blades. I don't know, would you say that aprox. 40% of custom folders are engraved? And again, I don't follow folders, however it seems that most all engraved custom folders are engraved by someone other than the maker where most all engraved fixed blades are engraved by the maker.

I don't know what point I'm trying to make here if any, but your statement just got me thinking about engraving of fixed blades and folders and different trends regarding both types of knives.
