Has a pay for play auction ever been considered?

I think I would really love a BladeForums auction site, and I'd more than happy to send the money here than to eBay. I'm just wondering if it's ever been considered, and if there's any chance (even a tiny one) of this ever happening.

Just imagine the same whiners who get negative reps, getting a scratched knife or getting stiffed on a deal and you might have your answer, maybe :D
 
We actually had an auction for a while. This was before 1SKS was paying for BFC's bills, so there were a couple problems:

1. We had to charge fees to use the auction to recoup the price of the software. When we did so, the competing sites offered free listings & such.
2. The other sites already had an established customer base.
3. The other sites were being run by dealers who used them to funnel their offerings as another sales tool. We weren't doing that so it hindered recouping software costs.

All of that led to it not being as popular and being discontinued a few months after opening.
