I love big folders like the pentagon II and cuda 5.5. I think it would be awesome if you get a big 10 inch bowie with an 10.5 inch handle. cut off the tang, round it off and add a liner lock handle. I know it sounds extreme, but you could hold it with two hands like a short sword. I mean imagine a folding SOG seal knife or a strider. Has anyone done this before. I have a drill and a dremel but I don't think I could pull it off. It would be stupid to ruin a good fixed blade, but this is my fantsy knife will it ever come true.

Not practical....The blade is already hardened and will cause no end of difficulty.

You would be better off starting from scratch.

Like George says, much easier to start from scratch....I have a folder that converts to a fixed blade though! ;)

years ago I converted an old colonial sheath knife (small one, had a 5 " blade) as an experiment. the effort you would go through more than likely would not be worth your time. Its not a very good idea as you have to drill the tang with a cobalt or carbide bit. making a folder out of a large bowie is very impractical. you would have alot of fun grinding the tang to round it off. aside from the fact that it would more than likely be imbalanced and weak.
