Has any digits been lost by beckers?

not quite. I didn't have enough force to do that. But I got a nasty deep cut on my pointer finger once, down to the bone. That one took a bit to heal.

I was in the chatroom one night talking to a BH (I can't spell his name and I don't feel like looking him up) and he said he cut himself playing with his BK9 while we were chatting and was asking me if he should go to the hospital. Like I can tell if he needs medical attention. He ended up super gluing it closed and as far as I know it healed fine. I copied the transcript from that night and was gonna paste it in the snark forum. It was actually kinda funny.

I stabbed myself with the tip of my BK5 while hand sanding it.
Wasn't too bad though. Healed quick.
It's very easy to become complacent when dealing with sharp knives.
I always try to give them the respect they deserve.

has anyone cut there fingers or toes of with a becker? Just wondering.

BECKERHEAD #339

Nope, but I did get my left thumb hung in a table saw 1x. Dec 18, 1983, NavSta Yokosuka, Japan wood hobby shop. The POIC saw my thumb and passed out. Went to the duty desk leaving a blood trail Stevie Wonder could follow. Duty PO passed out. Had to call 911 myself. Left bloody hand prints everywhere. Met the ambulance on the front steps and off we went. By the time I got to back to my ship around midnight, the rumor was "The Gator (I was Ship's Navigator and Signals Officer) cut his arm off."

Wow. I was three months old when that happened...

That reminds me - when I was 4 years old, I nearly cut off my middle finger (on my left hand) with a knife - I don't remember much about it, but the story I've been told was that I was trying to cut a piece of celery for my 6 year old sister (who didn't want it, anyway - I probably just wanted to use the knife) and managed to get the knife down in between my index and middle finger near the web and gave myself a wicked cut. My dad put me in the tub 'cause I was bleeding all over the place; I ended up at the ER (and this is the only part I remember - vaguely) and got three stitches, which circled half my finger at that age. Even though I remember almost nothing about that incident, I've got the scar and the story to remind me to be careful, and I've always tried to take make that my mantra. I have cut myself a few times since then, but nothing requiring much more than a band-aid; to my parent's credit they let me start using an X-acto knife when I was 7 and I have handled a knife of some sort every day since then. I never believe that it won't happen again and I try never to be complacent in that regard. You live and learn, as it's been said, or you don't live long.

Oh yeah, and I left my uvula hanging by a thread when I was a toddler, sticking a plastic knife in my mouth. But that doesn't count as it wasn't a digit. Still freaks out anyone that looks at it.

I'll try to add a picture of that scar later, still plain as day after 46 years.

Finger scar? Or dangling uvula? Enquiring EMTs want to know. :D

Are you bored?
I know I am. You know how I know? I took a picture of my finger....yeah, that one....but only 'cause I promised I would, for the thread:

This is a scar from stitches I got when I was 4 years old and cut the dickens outta my finger. Don't play with knives, kids!

And I thought it would be more fun doing it this way than editing my first post.

I was careless with my Machax the other day.
There was an accident.
Yes, I'm sorry to say.....I lost a digit.
