Any suggestions as to any differences in that of HT'ing ATS-34 or 154CM, which (I believe) are forerunners of RWL-34?

I have become concerned too about deep cryo of this steel because of its manufacture. Has any of us here deep cryo'ed RWL-34 in a simple dewar with good result?

Thanks.

I would drop Jens Anso he uses this steel on most of his knives
he seems to know a great deal about.
There is a gentelman in Ontariao, who deals with it his name is
Jeff Diotte 519-978-9387
he sales it, you may want to start there, maybe he has some specks on it
I to am vey interested in the steel,it seems to be exspensive

I downloaded the heat treat specs from the Damasteel site a couple of years ago when they had them online and printed the sheet.

They recommend hardening from 1920F to 2010F, air or oil quench and tempering at either 345F or 430F. Cooling to dry ice temperatures is also suggested, either after quenching or a temper.

1920 + 345 = 62 HRC
1920 + 430 = 59 HRC
1980 + 430 = 58 HRC
1980 + 345 + Cryo = 63 HRC
2010 + 345 + Cryo = 63.5 HRC

These figures were given for the RWL 34 in Damasteel

IIRC, RWL34 is the powdered metal version of ATS34, and as such is heat treated the same.

Thanks all. I had already ordered some from Damasteel and had looked at the analysis. I should have disclosed that info along with my questioning. Damasteel is telling me some things that differ some from the ATS-34 heat treats I have done. For example: -80 F. is sufficient for cryo and some of the relatively low temper temperatures. I thought if any of us had any personal experience HT'ing RWL-34 I might benefit from their advise. Perhaps I'll email Ansio. Thanks for that tip.
