Thanks Richard and Para, I am in the same boat.
Welcome Wilseya glad to have you aboard. The vast majority of us do not care how long you have been around and are always glad to see new folks joining us. Like Richard said, I am willing to bet more than one of us grabbed the books we have. Speaking for myself I could not find anything.
The reference materials that I use:
Forums.
TKCL Posts.
Knives Annuals back to '82 (If you walked into my house at any time you will see at least two or three of these on my desk with the 'puter.
Books - any knife book I can get my hands on.
Magazines (back to the early 8O's).
Large binder with makers/contacts cards.
Yearly expandable files with information sent to me or picked up at shows. (I think I started doing that in '88).
Word of mouth (and email) from friends (makers purveyors and collectors that I have gotten to know over the years).
ABS and Knifemakers Guild mailings and Member lists.
Shamless Plug. I hope all of us know that we can support the A.B.S. and Guild as collectors. Dues are very reasonable (around 20 a year) for an Associate Membership in the A.B.S. and/or Honarary Membership in the Knifemakers Guild.
Email me for information if you are interested.
