Has anyone bought the new Queen Tactical Knife?

It seems like a good model...ATS-34 steel and a G10 handle. What I'd like to know is how good is the fit & finish. It seems a bit pricy for what it is but I'm willing to get one if the build quality is good. Any reviews?

I can see that as well; I'd like someone who actually bought or handled one to chime in.

Looks like it borrowed a lot from their Country Cousin (sodbuster) design. Though it looks like a lockback in the picture if I am not mistaken and not a slipjoint like the Country Cousin, different blade style and steel as their country cousin uses D2, different handle material with smaller pins and lanyard hole, and the biggest change in my opinion the thumb stud.

Unfortunately it looks like these things cost around 3-4x as much as their Country Cousin which is a shame, wouldn't have mind trying out one.

Looks like a copy of the Al Mar Eagle ultralight, with slightly better blade steel. And G-10 instead of micarta for the handle. And a finger bump on the handle. Otherwise it's outline and blade shape are almost exactly the same. I'll pass since I already have the Al Mar.

Exactly like the Al Mar, but different here, here, and here....? Wouldn't that make it.... Different?

Nice knife, but not quite tactical imho.

Not different enough to make it worth buying. Look at it, even the three rivets that hold it together are in the exact same locations.
The Eagle has a chrome circle at the blade pivot. The Queen has a gold dot within the chrome. LOL
Someone at Queen likes the Al Mar Eagle Ultralight. ;-)
Wonder if the handle thickness is the same 5/16".

What's this, no torx?

Looks too much like the Al Mars, I would go for the Eagle HD instead.

Well I definitely do not consider the Al Mar Eagle a tactical knife. It's more of a really lightweight gentleman's folder.

Therefore......................................................

Seems tactical may be in the eye of the beholder. I sure don't see this as a tactical knife, but every site advertises it as such, trumpeting Queen's entrance into the tactical market. Their dedication to that would be naming the knife the "Q-Tac". Still not seeing it as a tactical knife.

I was surprised to see this knife at prices of anywhere from $110 to $140 plus shipping. That seems like a lot for this type of knife and frankly all the pics I have seen make it look a bit roughly finished. At 4" in length with a wee blade a bit over 3", there are a lot of proven, tougher than nails folders that can be had at 1/3 to 1/2 that price. With so many gorgeous traditional folders in their lineup, I can't imagine what Queen was going for with this knife.

The thumbstud isn't a bad idea at all for those days when your hands are wet, or you are wearing gloves for work or in cold weather. Love those thumbstuds then!

fancy country tactical.
perfect for low-key use in rural backwaters
the absolute accessory for the occasional duck hunter this season.

Low sharpness
Worst blade alignment when closed I've ever seen on a Queen knife and I have around 10.
I'd guess hardness is lower and grain feels larger than on 154cm from benchmade or spyderco. It will cut and reminds me of D2 heat treated to enhance the large carbide structure on some skinning knives. Have not used on wood yet but it should do the regular stuff fine unless someone thins theirs out too much. Queen sure didn't, but I've seen worse. Lately they seem better, but this was a step backwards.

Fit and finish is ok, but not up to Spyderco or Benchmade, or GEC standards.

Thanks Mastiff...that's what I wanted to know. I've been eyeing the Moki Blakiston's Fish Owl for awhile; then this Queen popped up and seemed very similar with the addition of a thumbstud. Fit and finish is a big deal to me so I won't get this Queen without handling one first.

LOL define tactical... I carried a Buck 110 on patrol once. Is it tactical now?

I'm too lazy to send it back but I know a bunch that would have. I think hand inspection by you or someone you trust is the best bet as it's a good idea knife with great materials. My queen knives have all been very nice the last year or two until this. Still, I have been looking for a small locking ATS 34 thin bladed knife for a while so it fits my needs. It still cuts well though. I have a DMT coarse ( blue) edge on it to take advantage of the large carbides as it does well on things like meat, tomatoes, synthetic rope, etc. It would skin or cape well heat treated like this. It is more of a coarse, mini serrated feel to it than their D2 does, and D2 is known for coarse carbides.
