Has anyone changed/added new components in his SOG multiTool?

Hey!
I just got new PowerLock. Like this tool very much!
In my model there are some components which are missing that i intended to add later, as i know SOGs can be replaced (like in my "with V-Cutter" model there are no scissors or straigh blade, but there is file which i don't use).
My question - has anyone ever replaced the components? Is this a problem? what should i know before ordering additional components? Any place problems to enter one tool instead of another?
Another question - should i order directly from SOG ot there are other alternatives?

10x in advance!

I don't think that retail stores carry the replacement parts so you'll need to order direct from SOG: http://www.sogknives.com/store/components.html

The PowerLock can fit two long components (e.g. saws, blades, scissors, v-cutter) in each of the two handles. In order for the jaws of the pliers to fold into the handles, the two long components need to be installed on the sides of the handle. You shouldn't have any problem replacing the file with another long component. Keep in mind that the scissors actually take up more space than a blade. If you're thinking of adding scissors, you might look at the tool arrangement on the S60 as an example.

I forgot to mention that the installation instructions for the scissors say that SOG will install the components for you if you send them your PowerLock and $5 for return postage. You'll probably prefer to do the customization yourself but I just thought that I'd mention it.

Hi, supratentorial..
I don't live in USA or Canada, and i guess i can handle replacing the scissors by myself.. ;) but anyway, thanx for your great help!!!!!! really appreciate the info.
What do you mean by "3" straight blade has a double bevel"? It takes two spaces inside the handles like the scissors?

I took out the knife in my SOG Powerpliers and replaced it with the scissors. It took a couple of attempts, mostly because I am challenged in several ways, but I did get it right. I figured the scissors are more handy and I always have a blade on me anyway, so...

I got the scissors from a guy on a forum like this one. They work pretty well.

The 3" straight blade (plain edge blade) is the same thickness as the other blades and it won't take up additional space. By "double bevel", I meant that the edge is ground on both sides. In contrast, the plain edge portion of the combo blade is ground on only one side.

For the most part, its really easy to swap out the parts but the scissors are sort of a pain since it has three separate parts.

I installed the 'black" scissors in my chrome S60. I set it up on the same handle as the blade to help find the blade faster. As others reported, it took a couple attempts (5-6!) and I had to experiment with different spacing to get it all back together & stacked right so it would close tight. You might want to spend the $5.00 SOG charges, if you value your time and have better things to do.
