I think I'm going to finally pull the trigger on one, but I was wondering if it has a strong detent without the torsion bar? I'm still going to buy it and I do like assisted knives, but I prefer manual knives.

I just replaced a broken torsion bar on one of my blurs and it had very weak detent with out the torsion bar. It was on a S30v model so im assuming that all the others are made that way. I do not know if I would remove the assist on the Blur its a great set up. I EDCed my S30v one for all most a full year when I first got in to knives and it never once opened in my pocket. It how ever did wear out and got real weak and then broke in to 2 parts. I sent A mail to Kershaw about it and about a week later I had 2 new torsion bars and a new pocket clip to replace the beat up on I had on the knife, all at no charge.

Your best bet would be to take out the torsion bar and give it a try you can always put the bar back in just remember to pack the torsion bar in white lithium grease when you put it back. Blurs are great knives you cannot go wrong and like me you will end up owning a few before its said and done.

Thanks very helpful of you.

As already mentioned it has a weak detent without the torsion bar, but it does work.

I think that deassissting the Blur is a sin against nature, if you do do it tell us how it works

I have, and my detent is still solid even though I removed the torsion bar. Have not had any problems with it coming open on its own.

Yay for the search function.

Just de-assisted my Blur last night. I like it even more now! Detent is great. I was originally going to gift this knife to my brother but now I may have to keep it for myself.
