has anyone done a review of the new kershaw blur?

I've had one for a few weeks, opens very fast, has angled thumb studs which is nice, puts a better grip on the thumb, lock up is perfect, blade stays centered in handle. comes very sharp from the factory. the inserts are rough, gives a good grip, hangs up in the pocket a bit, but they are still nice. very nicely made overall, the blade is beadblast grey, i would rather have it satin finished, but it cleans up easily. havent done too much cutting with it, maybe someone else has some heavier cutting experience with it.

I'm really getting hooked on the assisted knives, they are lots of fun.the blur is nice for the money. i'm waiting on a purple handled blur, only 600 made.......

I too really get a kick out of the assisted knives...I have a Kershaw "Black/gold" boron coated Leek on it's way to me at the moment. I really would like to add a larger one too, so I'm trying to decide between the Blur & the Avalanche.

Enjoy that new knife of yours!

Jeff/1911.

Jeff, the avalanche is a wonderful knife, my favorite. I have some in the old bead blast, some in the new coating. It is one well built utility knife. you will not be disappointed. Between the blur and avalanche, I would have to choose the avalanche (even though I do not have a blur yet) as the blade steel in the valanche is mush better. I have had two of these, one in the old bead blast, one in the coating, that I have carried and used the beadblast one 2.5 years or so. The newer one for the last two years. The newer one I have stropped to maintain the edge, never has touched a stone of any kind. The ones Ive never used are put up. I have used this knife for almost everything. I would highly recommend this knife. If you like high quality, you'll like this one!!!!:D

Wow! That knife sounds fantastic. I will be looking at getting one sometime in the near future, as my local shop is getting some in. I'm sure they will be the versions with coated blade, but that's OK. I like coated blades fine, it's just that I have found some pictures of the satin ones and they look really nice.

Thanks for your feedback. I have really been enjoying my black-gold BC coated Leek, my first reasonably sized assisted opener.

I have 3 chives, 4 scallions, 3 rainbow leeks, three leeks, 4 whirlwinds, 4 (?) older avalanche's, 3 new avalanches. out of all of them the rainbow leek is my favorite when it comes to looks, but when it comes to carry and performance its the avalanche, hands down.

:D

rev_jch,

Man, that is a whole big sack of onions!:)

These assisted openers sure are a fascinating knife design, and very well built. This BG Leek I now have is absolutely tight in every way, but smooth as glass to operate. Very nice indeed.

Ken,

Thank you for making such great knives. The only thing I can think of at the moment in terms of a request, is that I would love to see the re-release of the Avalanche in satin blade finish again. Do you think this is possible at some point in the future?

Thank you, Jeff/1911.

Ken, how about an avalanche in a blue alloy handle with bone inserts? or maybe an avalanche in colored G10! Or maybe an avalanche in carbon fiber :D

I think an avalanche in a blue alloy handle with bone inserts would be wonderful!!!! you could even go with a wood inlay, maybe a maple burl, or something of the sort? and polished steel clips instead of the blackened ones!!! :D :D :D

Jeff, I did check on that satin finshed avalanche, I did not find one yet, but I will keep on looking! (didnt have enough time yet to go through all of them).

rev_jch,

Thank you for your effort. I am still most interested in acquiring a satin finish Avalanche...and please realize that I am looking for one of these knives as a "user" and it does not need to be in "new" condition. I would be delighted with an "experienced" knife. So, if you decide that you can bring yourself to part with one of yours, I promise that I will provide it with a good home.

Thanks again, Jeff.:)
