Hey guys,
If recently been trying to figure out a different but functional way to suspend a sheath I'll be making in the future for a sword I started a while back.
The sheath will be kydex and I wanted to keep the overall look as modern as possible, here's what I came up with ignore the Kabar grass machete I just needed a sheath for example.
I used the "sport" 1 inch cobra buckles they are almost weightless but super quick to remove and attach plus very modular.

looks cool, how solid are those buckles?
It will be the only thing that keeps you from losing your knife

Not knowing the weight of the sword, is that 1" strap enough surface area to keep from being pants'ed by the sword, assuming a belt/waist carry?

Seems like a cool idea as I'm a fan of ease of use for opening/closing and equipping/removing items as things that are annoying to use don't get used (assuming that's the objective). I was looking at that buckle system for a tactical belt a few months ago and it seemed to get solid reviews outside of the higher price tag. Is there worry of them opening up if you catch the buck on something? I know I've bent several folders pocket clips when I caught them on items while trying to pretend to be skinny.

The concept seems solid and it looks better than the standard ball bearing quick release deal you see for key chains.

They are very secure and with the sword I plan on using 2 straps. I will include slots in the sheath to accommodate them. ,aye I'll take a picture of ,y drawing later.

Sounds like a solid idea and interested to see the final product and what others have done. I've only see the snaps or velcro and loop quick-release designs though I'm not an expert or looked into it too much.
