Has anyone else done this with a Sebbie?

While I was cleaning the titanium slabs the other day, I decided(don't know why) to use a scotch brite cleaning pad to really scrub them down and ended up smoothing out the outside of the non-clip slab. I left the clip side slab pretty much alone since other one needed cleaning the most.

I didn't think that it would have scratched the finish, because that's what it looked like at the beginning, but after some more scrubbing, under warm water, the titanium began to take on a lighter color and was very smooth. I like the new look, although when I get tired of it I might go ahead and send it in for a makeover.

Has anyone else done anything like this? And if so, how did you finish it off? Although the handle is smoothed out, there are still some very faint scratches that I'd like to try and blend in a little more. What grit of sandpaper should/could I use?

Sorry, MC, but I haven't had a chance to take any pics. I'll try and click some and post them later today. :D

I did it a long time ago, you can get scotchbrite in finer grades, that's what I used. I like the satin sheen, but evetually I sent it in for a reblast.

I did it too but did not like it as well as the bead blast,I was going to blast it myself but my dad(he has the beadblaster)was out of the smaller media and I did not want to chance useing the big stuff so I sent it in.
If you do not want to send it in check with a local machine shop and see if they have any fine media for their beadblaster and have them do it.Just be sure to tape over the pivot area.

I never used scotchbrite, but I had a lot of rust on my blade in the hidden area of the pivot and I used a media blaster and reblasted the handles and the blade. They both came out great in my opinion. I was just carefull when I blasted the inside of the handles where the washers go. the action was a little rough for a while, but smoothed out just fine.

Here's a pic from the 'other' forum, where I posted the same thread. The finish on my Sebbie is just about identical to this one. The owner did the same thing as I did with a ScotchBrite pad, however, my screws are reversed.
