First off this knife is sold and I am not trying to peddle it, but I am really curious whether any of the other Japanese style makers have tried this yet. This is a clay tempered blade of 1084 steel that I had Bodycote spply their Boron Carbide double dip coating.

To me this will make it possible to have a Japanese "tactical" with temper line and all without so much worry about rust and finish degradation.

I have used and abused this finish on a 5160 blade with virtually no damage at all to the finish. Thoughts anyone?

It is a very good idea, but I just like the look of steel to much to want any kind of coating on it. Because I properly looked after them, I do not worry about rust on my blades.

Yeah. Pretty cool. A subdued finish with a little maker's history. Great idea. I'd love to handle one.

Truth be told it looks ALOT better than I tought it would. Once again outstanding work! :D

Looks great! I'm surprised the temper line shows up so well through that stuff. Very unique look!
