On the 805 and 806, the tang ramp of the blade that the axis bar rides on is curved. The tang ramp of previous Axis locks is flat. Any idea why the change? I am going to hazard a guess and attribut the change as a method of compensating for wear, but I could be wrong. What are your thoughts? Are the other Axis designs going to be changed also?

I noticed it. But I'm doubtful that it is just to compensate for wear. After having a couple of mine apart, I can say with fair certainty that the flat design had plenty of wear compensation built in, because it wasn't completely flat; it slanted. If anything, my 806 (just came in today, by the way :D ) looks like it has less room for wear compensation. My first though in looking at it was they are trying to maintain as much steel around the pivot area as they can. Not sure why, though; I can't imagine that would break before my hand was pulverized. Dunno. Manufacturing? But I would think it would be harder to manufacture a curved tang like that than it would the flat tang. So.....

I don't know, you could be entirely right, and I was just mistaken about the flat/slant.

By the way, I think I'm gonna like the 806's D2. Even though it is coated. :barf:
