The blade, on the opposite side of the Emerson logo, hits or falls very close to the inide liner upon one handed opening or closing??

In the case of my cqc7bw when I push the thub stud (right handed opening) the blade hits the liner slightly.
Is there any way to remedy this because I would hate to have to send it back to be fixed
(coming from the person who had said on a previous post that I wouldn't try to fix a knife myself, I would just send it in for service;) )

any help would be greatly appreciated!!
thanks,
G

PS there is no play or wobble in the blade and I have tried loosening and tigtening it but it still wants to touch the liner.

EKI liners are very touchy...almost with their own personality. I just sent my Commander and CQC8 in for the exact same problem. You could have some oil on the butt end of the blade where the liner locks into place causing it to over-travel. Try this before shipping off to EKI...

Try LIGHTLY wetting the tip of a Qtip with gun cleaning solvent (Hoppes, Birchwood Casey, etc) to dissolve the oil if there is any, wipe away the excess, let the knife sit open for about 1/2 hour, and wipe the liner lock area of the blade clean vigorously with many Qtips (they're cheap enough) to get every last bit of solvent off of the metal area. Let the knife dry, and try again and see if this solves the prob. If it is still doing this, then send it off to EKI (they will fix it for ya)

take it apart, take the washers and switch sides( the one that was on the front put it in the back and vise versa) I bet that will fix it

I thought about this, but I have never taken a knife apart before...would this be any problem for a beginner??

not at all, it's very easy. the only thing is to be sure you use a philips that is the right size for the screws so you don't marr your screws. let us know how it turns out

hey,
thanks for the help guys
I tried switching the washers, and it didn't help. it was the same.
I don't have any gun clener so I didn't try cleaning off anything.
the knife is on it's way back to EKI.
