I recently purchased a bunch of vintage empty knife boxes. In the boxes was a plain looking yellow box stamped on the top was Associated Cutlery cutlery fine knives P.O. Box 4937 Atlanta Georgia 30302. Has anyone ever heard of this company and if so could someone give me a history lesson. The box is in excellent shape and appears to be old. On each end is says 1/2 doz. #811. Any information would be appreciated.

I found a listing for #811, which leads to folding saw blades for a Gyokucho folding saw from Hida Tool Company.

I don't think that's what you're looking for.

If you can tell us what's in the box, it would help a whole lot. I realize unsealing the box may be something you don't want to do.

Oh, and watch the words "value" or "worth". Registered users aren't allowed to ask.

Its old enough that I can't find out anything about it. You would think there would be some mention of the company somewhere on the old internet.

'vintage' has no strict definition outside of the year a wine is produced. Clothes, cars, jewelry and other items are 'vintage' at many different ages. I don't know what it would be for knives.

never heard of the company, but 1/2 dozen a box seems like maybe kitchen cutlery for commercial use.

Thanks Hardheart. The box is pretty small 2 1/2" wide, 3 1/2'" long and 1" deep.
If anyone wants to see the photos I can e-mail them to you or if someone could tell me how to upload pictures from my computer onto the forum I'll put them on here.

I can't figure out how to post pictures. I've got some just cant seem to get them posted.

Sign up for Photobucket, Imageshack, or one of the other free picture hosting sites. Snap a pic, upload it to your account, and then use the "IMG" link to link from Bladeforums. Relatively intuitive. Try it.

From the dimensions of those boxes, they aren't full cutlery sets. A 3 1/2 inch long box sounds like a blade you replace when it's used up.

Assuming they are even knives. Are you sure it's metal in these boxes??

These were all empty boxes. Nothing is in them now. I'm guessing these were small pocket knives. Who knows??? I'm puzzled.

coulda been a half dozen peanuts, like in their logo, that should fit in the dimensions given with no substantial packaging between them.

I believe they were located in San Francisco. They had straight-razors made for them, among other things.
