Oh, I did a bad thing,.... I got carried away at an auction, and went and bid too much, not that I can't afford it, or I'm not going to pay, I can and will, I just sat down afterwards and said "what was I thinking?"

This knife collecting thing has got me by the short & curleys, I need to get more knives... Arrggggg!

Has anyone else done this, or is it a newby thing?

My rump is sore from kicking myself

After a while your BUTT will become immune to your kicking it....... Then after about the 4th or 5th time you've over spent your knife budget, you'll probably adjust your finances, sell off some stock or work a second job to afford your knife habbit!
You've been bitten, the venom is just STARTING to take affect!!

I havn't done it with knives, but before I knew much about computers I bought one on ebay and it probably cost me an extra 300.

Savitar, A better question would probably be, Who hasn't done it? We have all been bitten by the bug and have surely done the same. However, you can take some solice in the fact that as you become more experienced you will become more discriminating. That just means you will spend more per knife. No, never, not once, not ever. Why what have you heard? Anyone who says I did is lying. Yeh, yeh, they'er lying. That is my story and I am sticking to it.

Savitar,

One time when I first started bidding, I came across an ad that said "with wood handles, first time on auction; $75."

I was the first and only person to bid.

A couple of days later these knives were going for $40.

I'll bite. $75 for a Timberline folder which retails for $20. It was my first one hand folder and the closest thing to a Spyderco in my neighborhood. To be fair I still have it and it takes a decent edge.

I've overpaid once or twice. I've also bought one or two knives I shouldn't have. But I've learned from the experience...it's only money...if you really enjoy it it's money well spent...life is too short...eventually they'll be worth the investment...chalk it up to experiemce...please, g-d,don't let the wife find out...
Anyone got any other suitable, soothing thoughts?
