Has anyone ever seen a knife with a mosaic pin placed where the talon hole normally would be in a busse knife?

if it's a unique idea, i'd like to know :)

I was thinking about this myself. The reason is secret right now, but I definately like the idea.

i know for a fact that unless you have one finished in the next 3 days, someone's gonna beat you to the punch... but i'm glad that the idea appeals to more than just me ;)

believe it or not, it came about through a total accident.

Its all good ive been bouncing the idea around for months now and when I do it it will be a while from now. Its a good idea. For mine it will be a metal pin with a minotaur....always liked minos and its a mod of my sign...taurus. I need the pid to have a head on either side so there will be 2 minos.

Like a Trademark infringement accident? Nope I don't believe it.:thumbdn:

I am sure you are the guy who suggested it and oked it.

again, wrong.

the knife is not for me. I didn't commission it. I had nothing whatsoever to do with the design, and the FULL EXTENT of my contribution to the entire thing, was pointing out that the holes the maker had already put in the guards was a trademark infringement. He came up with the idea of using pins to fix the problem

i consider it to be a very nifty idea, but at no time did he need my approval.

Well didn't want to have to call you out but according to the thread he got intouch with you and worked out a design. Which he is doing basically at cost.

And again, you are WRONG... you seem to be making a habit of doing that

HERE is the project that i had nothing at all to do with. He has already delivered my kukri and there's not a mosaic pin in sight. This is the one he's making now, and it's the one where the mosaic pin came into play.

With mine, he was not doing it as a production piece, with this one he IS, so i let him know that Jerry might take it personally if he used talon holes in a design that he's planning to sell for profit.

And "calling me out" us usually done best when knowing the facts...

Right about here

i think you have yourself a winner sir. Do me a favor though. Email me sometime before you go to full production. There's an issue i want to chat with you about to save you some grief later.

is where i let him know that he had a bit of a problem with the talon hole issue

Getting a little warm in here, anyone got a fan?

Leatherman, you are 100% correct. I am going to refrain from continuing down this path and not make the other comments I had.

Jerry is aware of the situation and I shall stay out of it now.

so the one he made for you with the hole is cool, but for anyone else its not, in your opinion?

that, is neither what i said, nor anything that i'm asserting. I simply wanted to save him problems in the future.

this thread is about the mosaic idea, not the blade that was made for me.

This thread seems to have very little to do with Busse.
And, it does seem to be getting quite warm in here...

Take me to the river/ Drop me in the water...

Yes, we have made quite a few custom Mean Streets and other models with mosaic pins in the talon holes. We started doing it back in the late 90's.

It can be a bit tricky to make them secure enough to handle heavy blade impacts.
