Has Anyone Ever Seen This Knife?

OK, it has happened again. I ran across a picture of a recent production Schrade that I have never heard of, much less seen. I just got a 1992 Shortline Catalog in the mail today and found the picture below.
Does anyone know anything about the 5715 Camo-Lite? It came out the year I got out of the cutlery business. I don't recall ever seeing one or even hearing a reference to one. Can someone please enlighten me?

Seen it? Oh yeah, I've seen it. One of my favorite little knives for some reason I cannot put my finger on. Little brother to the big M7S.. a take off on the bayonet that Imperial made, along with others, for years, which was introduced during the Rambo Movie days.

Funny you should ask... I inquired about the 5715 'Camolite' a couple of years ago, and Irv.... er... Larry, filled me in on it. Now I pass on the info to you. I found the mint in the box folder shown below at a knife and gun show last year for a few bucks. And hey... did we ever decide if Imperial had made a version of htis for Buck to sell? I cannot get the Buck forum moderators to admit or shoot down the idea. Anyway, this is a linerless lockback, handle of some high-tech material, and it is camo patterned. You won't mistake this for an LB8, that's for sure, for it is an Imperial, and it made the price point they were aiming to hit. Frankly, it was a very early 'tactical' looking knife, way before it's time. 4 1/2" closed, blade length just over 3 1/4". Who knows what the steel is??? Stainless, yes, it makes that claim on the tang marking. I know I don't have a problem sharpening the little things. No one in the 'Blade Discussion Forum' here would be much impressed with these, though.

Neat little top open velcro sealed sheath came with them. During hunting season, one of these liteweight jobs is in every vest/jacket I own. a sheath for one taped to my tree stand and another one sewn to my camo vest. Got one around here with an add-on thumb stud and I drilled a hole in the back for a thong...er... lanyard.

Thanks Phil,
Just another piece in the ever expanding puzzle of what did Schrade make?
As is often pointed out here on the Forum, Schrade was around for 100 years and made a lot of knives. I am sure there are dozens, perhaps hundreds that we seldom see because of a very limited production run. When I see these in an old catalog or price list I have to ask.

The great thing about this Forum is the breadth of knives the members have, or know of. because there are so many of us and we are scattered across the country, allowing for greater exposure to Schrade products. The other, perhaps greatest, characteristic of this Forum is the willingness of members to share information with others here.

Is I recall from my days managing a Cutlery store in the 80's & early 90's, we purchased our Schrade products through a jobber and not directly from the factory, (I could be mistaken, but that is how I remember it). In my experience with jobbers, they may or not carry the entire product line of a company. This may account for why a certain pattern is found more often in a particular part of the country. In the 60's, 70's & 80's you would almost never find anything in the Pacific Northwest (Oregon, Washington & Idaho) about bass fishing, or products, like knives with Bass on them. That has changed. Nowadays, I rarely fish for anything but bass here in Oregon. When I was a kid, any warm water fish, bass, catfish, etc, were considered "trash fish" as they competed with trout and salmon for habitat. I remember in the 50's & 60's seeing lakes poisoned to kill off all fish in an effort to get rid of "trash fish." That doesn't happen any more. Today bass and other warm water game fish are big business, with high dollar guided float trips down the Umpqua river. My parents have 5 acres on the Umpqua river and I have had 150+ fish days there. Great Small mouth fishing. :D

I must confess I am Schizophrenic, I like fishing as much as collecting knives.
"To fish or Collect knives, that is the question. Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to endure the slings and arrows of outrageous snip-ers or rip the lips of a 10 pounder." (With apologies to Bill Shakespeare)

Thank you for tolerating my Schrade/fishing ramble.
