Has anyone ever thought of the following?

I have been working with some New Zealand Hard wood called "Kauri". This stuff is close to 30,000 years old. (no joke... look it up)
I called CRK to see if they do custom inlays with customer supplied woods, they don't. So are there any after market places with a tight CNC that make inlays for CRK's that are worthy? Or am I just outa luck? Because i'd seriously like to get a Kauri inlay on a big Seb.

Thoughts?

I know a number of makers that use it on their knives. I don't know of anyone that specifically makes inlays though. Beautiful wood. I have two blocks I've been saving for just the right knife.

Another option might be to have the Kauri done as an overlay. Here's a pic of my small seb with a mastodon ivory overlay. It's been carried daily by me for years and has held up very well. The small crack in the ivory scale was present when I acquired it and has not changed over time.

Unfortunately I don't know who did this overlay as I bought it second hand, but I'm sure you could find a talented smith who could do something similar for you.
