I see Tomar has them for sale now. They look pretty nice. I may give them a try . . .

Very nice. I'd like to see a full coverage version that covered the bottle opener as well.
I never use it so it would be nice to cover it with more micarta.

Got mine a week ago. Fit perfectly and I like them much more than cord wrap.

We got our Micarta scales in today. We should have them up by the end of the weekend.

You have a very nice web page and shop. I look forward to doing business with you sometime soon ;)

What I would like to see is a side by side pic of the old and new style BK2.....

Puhlllleeeaaassssssseeeeeee.....;)

So I can decide which one I want to order...

As soon as we get the new BK2's in I will post the pictures, it sounds like it will be close to June 1st.

Does anyone have the new ones, or are all the other sellers (epray, spamazon, etc, all selling the old ones still?

so, i can't see how this question is even VAGUELY on topic... shouldn't we be drooling over the nice BK-11 micarta? i mean, people have been begging for this thing since last May, and here it is...

the only visible difference on the original KaBar BK2 and the new afaik is going to be the hammer pommel, like some of the other knives have... nothing else visible has changed. not length, not thickness.

the invisible... balance, weight, chopping ability :)

go find one of the BK2 threads, with pictures. let's get back to micarta ;)

I got my BK-11 scales from Tomars yesterday - fast shipping!

I like them a lot. They went right one with no problems and I love how the knife feels in hand with them. I'm going to keep them on for a while and see what happens :D

BTW, there are raised sections on the underside of the scales that fit nicely into the punchouts on the BK-11 handle so the scales are pretty solid when installed and they don't want to move around nor do they rely on tightening the screws too much to keep the scales in place.

Is it the lighting or the scales look rough around the edges? They don't look as well finished as the RAT Izula scales (which I have). The bolts also look like a potential problem if overtightened. At the current price, I may be tempted to make my own scales out of wood for my BK-11s. Sorry, but that's how I feel right now looking at the pics. :(

Nothing personal here. Here is my take:

The scales aren't "rough" around the edges per se but they are tapered down to almost a knife edge so there will be some residual fiber ends (Irish Pennants in Navy speak) that may hang around until the scales get some use and wear in. They could certainly be cleaned up a little bit but in person it's so insignificant that I'm not tempted to clean up the edges at all. I'm electing to let natural use buff the scales up a bit over time. As for bolt problems from over tightening, I'm not so sure that's a problem unless you tightened them down so much that they push through the bottom of the holes. The raised sections on the inside of the scales that fit into the handle punch outs probably don't touch exactly so there is probably a small gap between them that could be pinched together by overtightening. Honestly though, the way they fit is such that tightening the screwss too much should not be an issue. I went light rather than heavy on tightening and they feel rock solid. They are very small scales so there is not a lot of room for fine tuning them as far as fit and finish goes but they fit well and feel great and I like them just fine so far ;) The nuts fit tightly in the hex insets on the scale so I had to make sure I tapped them in straight so the threads would catch. That was the only thing I had to concentrate on while installing them.

sounds like one could take each scale, and simply buff them for a few seconds round the edges on something like rough cloth, or even a scotch bright, and bob's your uncle.

can't wait to order a couple sets shortly
