I just sent mine in for the second time for this issue. Horizontal blade play when open and locked.

Interested if anyone has had something similar happen? All my other bucks are amazing tools.

Over time. It was fine when I purchased it, about 3 months later the blade play developed for the first time, Buck fixed it. Then about a year later it developed again.

I haven't noticed it over time but I use a 110 like a pinned knife....it is pinned, of course. what I mean is zero side to side or side pressure movement when cutting.

I have had minor play in new ones, but never really worried about it.

Not much more than edc tasks. Cutting cardboard, fishing line, tape, some thin cordage, nothing too bad.

No crazy prying, no splitting logs, no using it as a screwdriver..not using it that hard I thought.

It’s a newer model I picked it up from blade hq a about 1 1/2 or 2 years ago.

Mine developed some significant blade play after using it hard for a couple of years. I was about to scrap it when I realized it has a simple pinned construction that could be squished back together (...only realized after seeing another BF member post about it). So I placed the front bolster on an anvil, gave a few light taps with a hammer on the main pin/pivot, and now it's all tightened back up. Word of warning: tap lightly and check as you go as it would be all too easy to make it too tight.

I have a 3 dot that's been beat to hell and used many times as a hammer. After 40 years it locks up perfectly. Just'cause it's pinned doesn't mean you can't use it hard. I've see a number of pinned knives beat to hell and with no play.

Yes, it happens.

I have a 55 that is back at the factory (hopefully) that was sent for extreme blade play.
Just an update on my warranty service.

I sent in the 55 on July 6, 2022.

I received an email today August 17, 2022 that my knife was repaired, and mailed back to me.

USPS service, August 16, 2022 11:41 am shipping label created. USPS awaiting item.

Mine did, did this.
A lot of pinned construction folding knives do this eventually, happened on slipjoints also.

Well here is a twist. I just received another email saying that my knife was received on 8/12/2022, and sent to warranty today for repair for SPA treatment (which I did not request), and loose blade ( which I did request).

A little bit seems normal to me, but I'm not sure if my definition of a little bit is the same as yours.

I only have my own 110 and have looked over 3 or 4 I've gifted after they've been well loved, In those 5 or so I haven't experienced any play that I didn't have to really try and notice.
