the CRKT d.o.g.? I'm not really sure I grasp the mechanics of it. Kinda like the looks of it though.

I don't think CRKT has them out yet. The mechanism is called a "Deadbolt Over Grabstep" and it is a Grant Hawk design. It works similar to Gerber's old "Bolt-Action" folders.

I really looked forward to seeing a production version of this folder when I first saw the custom version on the cover of Blade magazine (April 2000). I think it looks great and the design should prove to be much more solid than the "Bolt-Action."

CRKT's version will come with 2 sets of black Zytel grips, traditional checkered, or diagonal fluted attached with Torx fasteners. It's a nice idea, but I feel CRKT should have opted for different coloured scales instead of a set of 2 black scales. Perhaps a set in black and another in blue or OD green would have been better.

Here's a pic of the custom version from nordicknives.com

I think it was the "grabstep" part that threw me off. I know what a deadbolt is but what's a "grabstep"?

Any word if they are out yet?? They are listed everywhere but no one has said if they are in stock yet. I have been wanting one for some time, since I first heard the press release, I think, although it appears bulky, its going to be a nice addition to there line
