I am curious if anyone has mod'd a SYCKO 411 to remove the choil. Basically grinding down the edge to eliminate the choil? I held one yesterday and thought this would be a fantastic blade without the choil. The blade at 1.25" has enough depth to allow this to happen and you end up with a 1" deep knife, similar to a CABS or Meaner. Lightweight with a better handle than most of the kin and almost turning it into a righteous RS. I liked it.

If no one has compelted a mod, could you identify a maker that has the skills and reasonable time frame to do this successfully? Seems like to nice of a combo, great ergos and no choil to not male it happen. I am not concerend with warranty. If I break it after the fact then it is my issue as for me to break it I would need to be a position of serious peril.

You would then have to thin down the edge significantly. It could be done without hurting the heat treat, but it would take a while and be hard on stones and what not. That would drive the cost up. But maybe check with Norcalblacktail, think that's his handle.

I'd say go for it, I've had similar thoughts about the 411 and other knives. If I were going to remove the choil by having the edge ground down, I'd take it one step further and do a full convex on the primary grind from edge to spine. This would make the blade thinner at the spine while simultaneously thinning the edge down, this geometry would be a definite improvement IMO to the factory grind.

Aaaacccc. Received your message. Thank you for the offer and i will take you up on. I need to order one first As soon as I receive it I will ping you.

I'd love to see a 411 without the choil. Many of us would love to see a small (4") choiless Scrap Yard knife from Dan.
