Has anyone modded the BK21 sheath

Just wondering if anyone has done any mods to the factory sheath. The belt loop leaves this huge and awesome blade too high and the handle rubs my little love handles. I like the sheath enough otherwise to not want to get an aftermarket one but I would like to extend the loop or make a dangler. It is a shame they didn't just make the loop come to the top of the handle like every other Becker and give it a loop to secure around the bottom of the handle. Any ideas from you crafty folks?

P.S. I am loving this blade! Worth the wait and as good as I hoped it to be.

I doubt the tweener straps would go around the full BK handle. It does look nice, albeit too many straps. I have considered adding a loop to drop the handle, but it would ride too low. I like to run paracord at the bottom of big blade sheaths for a leg tie, but with this one a dangler would drop it past the knee, same reason I didn't buy the 710 sheath even tho it is a beautifully made sheath at an awesome price. I'm quite dumbfounded as to how to proceed. Thought about covering the front with leather and call it a day, but still not sure what to do with it.

I agree to only wanting one strap on the handle (closer to the blade by my preference). I never thought about how low it would ride and after checking it against my leg I can see your concern especially with a dangler. Maybe it would be better served attached to the pack and keep the 9 on the hip... unless there are other ideas from some of the more knowledgable than me.

What about a dangler scavenged from a BK4 sheath?

I like to wear my 4 in its Trailbum kydex crossdraw, riding at an angle - handle tilted forward. Keeps it from hanging too low and hanging up on stuff - and me. Kinda only works with kydex and a MOLLE-Lok or Tek-Lok, though. The RBK seems like it'd be perfect for a good baldric rig.....just not with the stock sheath. Which I guess isn't really a mod, if you throw the sheath out and start from scratch. Maybe just punch a couple holes in the back side and attach a large Tek-Lok to it.

Don't have a photo of it in situ, but you can get the idea from this pic - I'm right handed and the 4 goes on the left with the handle in easy reach of my right hand. Angle of the sheath on the belt makes it pretty natural to raw and re-sheath, at least for me.

Tandy leather sells and round spring clip "D" ring, all you would need is the bk4 upper dangler and cut that D ring off and add the tandy one or get someone to make a leather dangler add on....

I removed the dangler from my 4 by cutting the d-ring. Then I brought the dangler to Home Depot to find a stainless steel shackle that fit.

I figured it is an effective way to add a small piece of rigging hardware to my kit without being clutter or not serving a purpose. If it is needed, I have it, if not, it works as a link in the chain.

This now works with Any of my Becker sheaths due to the little sewn in loop on the back of the belt loop are all similar in size.

I like the sound of repurposing the bk4 dangler, does anyone have an extra they would be willing to sell? I never got the 4 cause I already had a 9 and wanted to wait for the 21.

I don't have a spare, but I do have an idea. Shoot me an email.

The 710 sheath can be dedanglered, leaving a decent belt loop...... Great piece of work..... Julio rocks it.....Again....
