Hey guys, I've come to bladeforums plenty over the years but never made an account until today. There is a question I've always wanted to know, and that is if anyone has modified the Ontario spec plus gen I and gen ii handles? Specifically the ones which a top rubber hand guard opposite of the cutting edge? Thanks

Yes, SP 49, I removed and smoothed out the top guard. I like being able to place my thumb on the top of the spine and I don't intend to use the 49 in a knife fight. ;)

Ya, SP43.

Shaved off the top guard, widened the choil, added gimping to the spine, and grip tape to cover up the annoying ridges on the handle.
Turns out, there was a lot I felt needed fixing about the handle.
Cool knife, not sure why I bought it though.

I actually just ordered that one , took a while to decide but I wanted to do something like what you did ! I think it looks sweet

I modded my SP-15 LSA the day I got it.

The top grind was a bit off, so I just shaved it down to a flat unsharpened clip. I like the blade shape a lot better cleaned up like that.

I also ground down the guard flat with the grip. I left just enough of a numb to make sure my hand won't slip forward.
