Has anyone reviewed the Case Mid folding hunter?

I got mine, it was going to be an occasional EDC, but the liner lock is very loose. WTF! Am I cursed with warped liner locks? First my Buck Strider police, then my CRKT Pikes Peak. What next. BTW, I'm guessing it's not a hard use knife, this was going to just be a dress knife.

You are cursed with loose liner locks. I had a Mid Folding Hunter and I thought it was pretty well put together. It wasn't a hard use tactical knife but it was comfortable and seemed reliable.

I have one of these. I like it quite a bit. I dont think the liner-lock is meant to be what you would expect to find on some tac-folder. The knife seems to be designed as a typical slip-joint, and the lock is just kind of there to help avoid any accidental closure instead of being there to stand up to heavy use/abuse.

If used as a standard utility slip-joint, it should do just fine. Besides the knives look nice.

I did remove the clip from mine, ugly ugly ugly.

I seem to remember a not so glowing review of these. No surprise, they have the same old crappy 420 stainless blades, and clips that are not removeable(riveted?). When is Case going to see the light, and finally put together a stainless knife that actually cries out to be used? For crying out loud, at least put a reversable clip on the thing and use 440C stainless. People love Case knives. I'll bet they'd even love them more, if their stainless blades actually took and held a good edge. (rant mode off)

The clips are removable. Mine was mounted with torx screws. It does however leave a couple of ugly little holes in the bolster, but better than the ugly clip I guess.

They would be better knives if a better grade of stainless was used im sure, or carbon steel was offered in this model. For light use or dress carry though its ok.

Hey Sak Collector, when did you get yours all of mine and all the ones I've seen have been riveted, did they change this at some point? I agree it'd make a good gents knife but I'd like to see it with tip up carry option in yellow handles and with CV steel, then it'd be a real user. It'd be even better if they'd drop the backspring and give it an axis or compression type lock:)

Case's 420HC would be acceptable IF it had a decent heat treatment.

FYI. Case is making the Mid-Folding Hunter in CV steel with amber bone scales, should be a performance boost for those of you who like the knife, but not the stainless.

Thanks for all of the input, I don't know what I'm doing with mine, I really liked when it was advertised on the inside cover of Blade magazine, but now, I don't know. The blade is too thin for me, I thought it was wider. That liner lock really bothers me too. I had a Case amber copper lock, sold that on consignment, now I think that I like that one better. Ah, I can find one anywhere. Just expected more out of a Case. :grumpy:
