Has anyone sanded double cut smooth?

LOL that dcbb didn't last long... ;) Looks good!

If I can't find any satin finishes, i plan to sandpaper it.
Not a fan of double cut and especially coatings.

I love DC, so I've never had that problem. Comp and satin finishes are a close second.

Double cut use to be so easy to maintain for me when I had a media blaster. A few swipes and my blade looked new. Now, I no longer have access to one so it does not matter. However, I can see why the surface under a coating would be DC, since coatings adhere best to rough finishes.

The only INFI I've ever had show surface rust is double cut. From then on I'm not a fan. I prefer to hand sand the blades myself. Makes them feel more a part of the family. I've never attempted to sand double cut before last night. Here it is now after some more love...

I love the light Busse logo, The 3 hour etch did just what I wanted.

You can actually make out the two carbon fiber stripes on my wedding ring in this close up reflection

Upgrade, IMHO

So, you can etch the logo on DC knives?

...I would have guessed you couldn't do that

See I really really dislike polished blades, I don't mind pretty sure, but on my tools no, same as my stainless handguns, off to the blast cabinet with them. I love double cut and have not had any maintenance issues with any of them, when bloody I just wipe them down.

That looks great buddy, excellent job! What grit sandpaper did you use, and how long did it take?

220,320,400,600,800,1000,1500,2000, then metal polish 6 or 7 times. It took too long. Total hand sanding about 7 hours. I would do it to any knife you needed me to for which ever hummer you've grown tired of....lol

I only own one other double cut knife and it's my nuclear muskrat and the double cut really fits that knife

Strangely the coating seemed to jump off the knife after 40 minutes soaking in 15 minute jasco epoxy remover. I literally pinched the blade and pulled all of the coating off in one swipe. I've never seen the coating fall off like that. The other knives I've stripped still took a little effort to remove.

Thanks guys, I had hoped I could just send it in but they Wil only re bead blast not polish in the spa... It turned out good now it just needs some bruiser g10 on it.

Gave it a go this weekend,, only took it to 600 grit,, but like the almost Satin look..
