Hey guys, I'm reading some great video reviews here. I wish I had the bucks to buy them all. :-) Two tapes I'm particularly interested in but haven't seen are Datu Kelly Worden's Sibat videos, and Guro Ted Lucaylucay's Pocket Stick video. Can anyone give me a run-down of either one? Or if they've already been reviewed just let me know and I'll got back and hunt for it. Thanks.

hello,

i bought Pocket Stick awhile ago. did not take notes then, vaguely recall that i liked it as i'm no knifer, but fist stick/pocket stick i do carry.

if someone beats me to it, so be it, if not - please be patient, do not have much time at home to watch vids. as it was, it took a week to watch the Lightning Scientific Arnis vid! (daughter is 1.5 yrs old and takes up a lot of my time - which is good!)

very best,

hy

I was just watching Guro Ted's Pocket Stick tape today. It covers the topic pretty well from the FMA point of view. He discusses various styles of pocket sticks, shows the basic grips, angles of attack and strikes. He shows several two person drills for targeting, angling and flow. He also shows 'raking and gouging' techniques, which I haven't seen on other tapes on this topic. Almost all of the techniques shown can be transferred to a closed folder of the prpoer size and shape. Well worth the money to me.

Hey Protector, thanks for the feedback. Did the Pocket Stick tape show things that were "Pocket Stick specific" that I will see and say "cool, I hadn't thought of that!"? Or does it show the standard guntings, punches, etc. with a pocket stick in hand? What I'm getting at is....I often train my Panantukan with a hand load. Will this tape show me new things? Thanks again. Anyone for Sibat? :-)

Myers,

Sorry it took so long to reply. I forgot what thread the original question was under.
Yes, quite a bit of the stuff is Gunting related, but there is enough Pocket Stick specific ideas/techniques IMHO to be worth the purchase.

Thanks Protector. You know I got an eMail from Guro Lucaylucay's sister recommending the video. She must be a member of this forum. Hi Ms. Lucaylucay! :-) Yes, I think I will be purchasing this video. Then I'll have all of his titles from Unique.

Guro LucayLucay sister?? Way cool..
I had the pleasure of attending more than one seminars of his in Wa state. He was such a fountain of knowledge and is sorely missed.

Much love and respect to his family.

I have both of Worden's Sibat tapes. One was taken off the market, and you'll probably have to contact him for that particuliar one.

Worden's tape #8 Progressive Long Pole gives you a good handle on using the sibat. Includes strikes n deflections, passing and a couple of sibat forms.

The Sibat tape is a little more juicy in nature and includes baston vs staff, knife vs staff, and empty hands vs staff. Also some flow locks are shown. Some very good entries are also shown against the angles of attack.

If you like the staff its a must have. I was hoping that he would do more on the sibat series, real good material locked up in there especially on the conceptual plane.

Peace Out for now...
