Looking to get a couple blades swapped out.
do they have an official stance on custom scales?
I'm assuming I should toss the factory ones back on before sending in.

From what I've read, it doesn't make any difference to them.
Curious what you mean by getting the blades swapped out. I don't think they swap for different style/steel blades unless the knife is from their custom shop.
You can always call them and ask.

I did, an AWT scaled 551 went up last year and came back fully adjusted and good to go. This went in just like you see it.

they will swap any blades for a fee. i think its 30 for uncoated and 40 for coated. any current model.

Yup!! Had it done on my 581. Dropped it, took a chunk off the tip. Had a satin finished M390 blade, had them put a coated one one. They changed out all the hardware and put a gorgeous edge on the new blade!! All for $40 and the whole thing took less than 2 weeks.
Uncoated blades are $30 installed last time I checked.

This is how I sent it in......but I did call first!

Thanks guys.
I had them swap out a coated blade on my Barrage for a beautiful satin tanto blade last year for $30 shipped plus the service the entire knife as needed.

I let them know I was sending in a knife with custom scales and their reply was:
"So long as the scales don’t interfere with our ability to service the knife, we won’t have an issue with aftermarket scales"

This is good to know, but is their policy the same for Balisongs like the 51 I have with FlyTi Titanium scales and a Zenith blade with bushings.

What I posted above is an exact quote from their tech rep. As long as the scales don't interfere with their servicing the knife they don't mind custom scales.

I'm not really sure what scales would interfere with service...maybe if you epoxied them together instead of using screws...??
