I'm wondering if this has been done yet!! I love my Skinny but wish it was SATIN finished. Just a thought.......

Post pics if ya got em!

Horton stripped and convexed mine. It is my go to deep woods knife. It is currently getting a new profile, but I'll try to post some pics when I get it back.

Stripped and ghetto satined mine. Looks better than this last pic I took. I say go for it.

Hi Adrock197,

I love it!
Can you describe your ghetto satin finish technique please? Thanks!

Really? Well, I used a spray can of Kleen-Strip. Holding the knife in hand I spray both sides and then let it sit in a puddle of foam until the coating oozes off. I scraped any left over with a Spackle knife. Any straight hard edge will work. Then I rinsed it in water and went to town on it with those foam sanding blocks by hand. 120 > 220 > 320 and 420. After a night of TV and sanding on the couch got the Skinny to where you see it there.

Then I discovered a 6" foam rubber sanding disk (with hard backer) for my drill that accepted adhesive backed sanding disks. I started over with 300, 400 and I think 6 or 800 grit. I made sure the rotation of the disk (spinning clockwise) went from spine to edge like you would if you were stropping or using the mouse pad technique. In other words, picture the disk spinning clockwise and the knife coming at it from the left at 9 O' Clock, tip first, blade edge up. You want the disk to trail off the blade edge. Not into it.

Its pretty damn shiny now. I may send it to Norcal soon (if he will) but for now, it looks really good.

I can contribute this little number with clip point added :D

Started life as a coated skinny ASH1. The scales are tigerhide micarta which came from another knife and have been coated for glossy finish.

Thank you. :)
Is it just the pix or the blade seems to have some kinf of grey patina?

Thats just the natural finish of unpolished INFI. You never know what will be under a coating. Some are smoother than others. The more you sand though the more you remove that grayish tint in areas. Generally above the grind line is darker on a stripped knife

I REALLY wanna do this to mine but.... I probably shouldn't as I need it for a sheath pattern knife! Ugh....... if I strip it, it will be thinner yet!
